Our commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care drives everything we do. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Physician specializing in Palliative Medicine to join our esteemed team.
Position Overview:
As a Palliative Medicine Physician at Mount Nittany Medical Center, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of life for patients with serious, life-limiting illnesses. You will provide expert symptom management, emotional support, and coordinated care to patients and their families. This role requires a collaborative spirit, strong clinical skills, and a commitment to compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive palliative care to hospitalized patients, including symptom management, pain control, and emotional support.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, social workers, and chaplains, to create and implement individualized care plans.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families about goals of care, treatment options, and advanced directives.
- Participate in case reviews, family meetings, and palliative care consultations.
- Provide education and support to patients, families, and healthcare staff regarding palliative care principles and practices.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of palliative care programs and initiatives within the medical center.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain up-to-date knowledge of palliative care practices and advancements.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
- Board certification in Palliative Medicine or eligibility for certification.
- Active medical license in Pennsylvania or the ability to obtain one.
- Strong clinical and diagnostic skills with a focus on palliative care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care and empathy.
