Position Overview:

As a Palliative Medicine Physician at Mount Nittany Medical Center, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of life for patients with serious, life-limiting illnesses. You will provide expert symptom management, emotional support, and coordinated care to patients and their families. This role requires a collaborative spirit, strong clinical skills, and a commitment to compassionate care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive palliative care to hospitalized patients, including symptom management, pain control, and emotional support.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, social workers, and chaplains, to create and implement individualized care plans.
• Communicate effectively with patients and their families about goals of care, treatment options, and advanced directives.
• Participate in case reviews, family meetings, and palliative care consultations.
• Provide education and support to patients, families, and healthcare staff regarding palliative care principles and practices.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of palliative care programs and initiatives within the medical center.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain up-to-date knowledge of palliative care practices and advancements.

Qualifications:

• MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
• Board certification in Palliative Medicine or eligibility for certification.
• Active medical license in Pennsylvania or the ability to obtain one.
• Strong clinical and diagnostic skills with a focus on palliative care.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care and empathy.
