Easy Crock Pot Chicken and Noodles

I love this recipe because you can toss all the ingredients (except the noodles) into the crock pot before leaving the house in the morning and then toss them in when you get home and 45 minutes later–with no work on my part I might add– dinner is done dude! 45 minutes I would normally spend making dinner… Now completely FREE! What would I do with an extra 45 minutes in my day… I could read a book. Or, oh I could go for a walk. I really should do laundry though… (Let’s be honest– I’ll probably end up on Facebook…) But that isn’t the point 😉 The point is… 45 free minutes and a yummy dinner to boot! Enjoy!

This is my daughter’s favorite recipe for when she’s feeling under the weather! Any chance you could convert it to pressure cooker directions? Sometimes I don’t get my act together and defrost the chicken in time!

That just makes my heart happy Cristin! I’m so glad this recipe brings your daughter comfort when she is under the weather. This isn’t the exact same recipe, but hopefully will be one she loves as well: https://www.recipesthatcrock.com/electric-pressure-cooker-chicken-noodles/

I would love to add some veggies to this. What do you recommend fresh or frozen? And when would you add them in? Thanks!

You could probably use either… I personally would throw them in at the beginning, but I prefer my veggies to be super soft. Cutting your veggies in bigger pieces will cause them to cook slower. Or if you want to throw them halfway through, you could cut them into smaller pieces. Hope that helps!

My family loves this recipes. I have made it several times now. My grandson said….Mom mom, I will eat this every day ……everyday & he did for like 4 days straight. So, now I make a pot & I make sure to freeze some. Btw, it freezes well. Then I can surprise him with it once in awhile. Awesome recipe & thanks!! I have a 6 quart Rival Crock Pot & I have to cook mine on the 8 hour setting for 4 hours or it gets over done & mushy. Hope this helps someone that had that problem. Enjoy!!

FAQs

Can you cook raw noodles in a crock pot? ›

This simple, prep-ahead supper is a convenient option when you have hungry mouths to feed — but not a lot of time! The uncooked noodles go straight into the slow cooker, so you don't even have to boil them first. Just brown the meat in advance, stir everything together, and let the Crock Pot do the work!

Why did my egg noodles turn to mush in the crockpot? ›

One of the most common reasons for mushy noodles is overcooking. Pasta, including noodles, has a relatively short cooking time compared to other ingredients typically prepared in a crockpot. If you leave the noodles in the slow cooker for too long, they will absorb too much liquid and become soft and mushy.

Can you put raw chicken in a crock pot? ›

Yes, you can put raw chicken in a slow cooker! Slow cookers and Crock-Pots are designed to cook raw meats. The direct heat from the pot, lengthy cooking time and steam created from the tightly covered container destroys bacteria, making slow cooking safe. You can put frozen chicken in a slow cooker, too!

How do you keep chicken moist in a crock pot? ›

Add liquid such as chicken broth, water, or citrus juice to keep the chicken moist. The liquid provides necessary moisture during the cooking process, preventing the chicken from drying out and becoming tough. Chicken broth, for instance, not only keeps the meat moist but also adds flavor to the dish.

How do you keep noodles from getting mushy in a crock pot? ›

If you're using a small pasta like pastina, or thin noodles like angel hair that you're afraid of overcooking, you can also turn your slow cooker to the warm setting or turn it completely off before adding your noodles.

Can you put dry pasta in sauce to cook? ›

By skipping the separate boiling of the pasta and instead adding the dried noodles straight to the sauce, you can make a weeknight-friendly meal in just one pot. Bonus: It makes the pasta more flavorful, too.
