Dollarama rollers and brushes good?
I am going to start painting some of the rooms as was wondering how good are the dollarama brushes and rollers? The big box stores costs like more than double but never had any experience using them. I would assume that no one would clean them after using them, more like condoms.
I got 5 rooms to paint so if one roller and one brush can do it would be excellent.

Cheap brushes shed bristles and cheap rollers shes lint. They wouldn't pick up much paint either. Wouldn't last too many washing a (which you don't care about). You can try them, and see if that is the case.

You don't want to spend time picking roller lint off the walls, trust me. With rollers you get what you pay for, so spend a few extra bucks and get a good quality one. They're not that much more expensive.

agree, lint and bristles left behind suck. I do wash and clean brushes and rollers (a few times, they eventually get tossed but I'll use them a good few times if I can and they are good).

Dollarama does have better quality rollers/brushes from time to time.
Few years back got a good paint package from Costco but more of a seasonal summer item

Don't.
Unless you want some unintended "textures" in your paint job.

I wouldn't trust the rollers but the brushes have been decent. You lose a few bristles at the start but after that it stays together pretty well. At that price tossing them out is no big deal.

I use the white mini foam rollers all the time for urethaning and any flat painting like doors, cabinets, etc. They don't leave streaks, hold a decent amount of paint, and are a good price. They used to come in 3 packs but now only 2. I haven't been able to find the tray and roller combo for a few months now.
Brushes are terrible, all synthetic and will flick paint everywhere.
Can't comment on full size rollers.

Dollarama had some "Baker" rollers sold in a multi-pack a few months ago. Apparently those are decent quality, as I was reading on another RFD thread.

Roller handles and roller trays for sure at Dollarama are way cheaper. I use the foam rollers too. They have some drop sheets that are pretty cheep. It's like Canadian Tire or Princess Auto, and same for Dollarama: if the performance or appearance matters, just don't.

This!
A lot of people here aren't talking from experience and just assuming because it's Dollaramma it's garbage.
Dollaramma, does stock crap items but occasionally they do get some quality items for dirt cheap. Yes you get what you pay for in most cases, but why pay double/triple the amount when the same product is found at Dollaramma?

Maybe I have had much better success than you people. I buy the "upper end" +$3 rollers and brushes and not a single time have I had any issues at all. I recommend the microfibre rollers if you can find them. I view dollorama brushes and rollers a disposable item. (no cleaning and storing) For recoats I just cover the tray and rollers with plastic garbage bags. No cleaning in between coats and they remain wet.

I have both cheap Dollarama rollers and more expensive ones that are 3-4x the price. The Dollarama ones don't shed lint like people suggest, but they do get "compressed" and don't provide as good coverage after several hours of painting. The advantage of course is that I consider them disposable and no cleaning involved. They each have their purpose.

I use them every time. Key is to prep them before you use them.
aka soak in water and "brush them with a paint scraper-the rounded part- to get all the fuzzys off. or just rub it a bunch.
Works every time for me and then just toss once you are done the second/third coat( i leave them in the paint tray between coats in the fridge so they dont dry out)
The brushes are less prep but still give them a good flick a few times to get the bad bristles out.

Never had a problem with their synthetic brushes, they do not shed any more than more expensive ones sold at HD or paint stores. Wrt their rollers, I use them once and then discard. A good quality roller you should be able to wash it and re-use but with Dollarama I just toss. I've never found they streak or cause clumping.

How much does that paint, prep and your time cost? Mixed reviews, skip the dollar store.

2.50 or 9$? how much time does it take to properly clean out that 9$ roller...
prob no less then to prep the dollar store one.. and you still get what 3 uses from that 9$ roller? so in the end its about where you want to spend your time.
I dont trust myself to clean those rollers well enough to get 3 uyses out of em. so ill use and toss the cheapo dollarstore ones.
to each there own

I use the better rollers and can clean them quite easily with a roller/brush cleaner and spinner.

the blue roller does hold and put out alot more paint but it gets compressed on one side. so you are rolling most of time uneven but you can tilt the handle to adjust for more even coverage.
it was adequate for my use and after painting for the day the roller is tossed in the trash, don't even bother cleaning them.
you can see the left side was not as compressed as the right side. I painted alot of rooms and it did do a ok job for the price.
