Animal Based Easy Carnivore Diet Mayonnaise Recipe

I make this easy mayonnaise recipe for carnivore diet or keto diet that is zero carb and animal based. I love to make it every week. It saves lots of money and it is delicious food that’s also healthy for the heart. With its unique flavor and creamy texture, this mayo will be sure to delight low carb, ketogenic and carnivore dieters.

When it comes to mayonnaise, it’s always best to make your own instead of buying store-bought. Store bought mayonnaise is really not a thing on the carnivore diet. Store-bought versions typically contain unhealthy vegetable oils that are potentially toxic and inflammatory like soybean and canola oil. Plus they have added sugar and other additives that are very common for all store bought mayonnaise and salad dressings, so make sure you’re reading your labels.

By making your own mayonnaise, you can create a healthier and tastier condiment for your keto and carnivore meals. You can control the ingredients, opting for healthier animal based fats, subtracting unwanted ingredients and adding flavors you enjoy, so you never have to settle for what’s in store-bought versions. Try experimenting with different fats you like. I have previously shared my recipe for ketogenic diet mayonnaise made with avocado oil for free on my blog here.

Why Processed Vegetable Oils Are Unhealthy

When it comes to choosing fats and oils, it is important to look for products that are minimally processed and contain healthy fats. In addition to being highly processed, vegetable oils are also high in omega 6 polyunsaturated fats. These are a type of fat that is susceptible to oxidation when exposed to heat, light, or oxygen. When this happens, the fats become rancid and produce free radicals, which can damage our cells and contribute to inflammation. So you may want to avoid vegetable oils high in omega-6 as increasing dietary intake of omega 6 increases inflammation.

Why Saturated Fats Are Better Option

Saturated fats are generally considered to be a healthier option. The benefits of saturated fat are so numerous that it’s good for your brain and heart health. These are not susceptible to oxidation and therefore do not produce free radicals when exposed to heat, light, or oxygen. Additionally, these fats are much more stable at high temperatures, making them a better choice for cooking. Furthermore, research suggests that saturated fats have beneficial effects on our health, such as improving cholesterol levels and reducing inflammation.

Ingredients

  • 3egg yolks
  • 1teaspoonvinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 2cupDuck fat

Instructions

  1. Melt the duck fat in a saucepan over medium low heat. Remove the pan from the heat and set aside. If you want, use the microwave for melting the duck fat.

  2. Separate egg yolk from egg whites.

  3. Add vinegar to egg yolks and mix quickly using a fork until well combined .

  4. Pour the mixture into the bottom of the glass, jar or cup that barely fits in the head of the immersion blender.

  5. Drizzle in the melted duck fat with the immersion blender running on low, very slowly.

  6. Continue slowly pouring the melted duck fat. Make sure to drizzle in very slowly into the blender in a thin stream, with the blender running. Go as slow as you can, it will turn out great and help the mayo to emulsify.

  7. Once the mayo starts thickening in the blender, you will see a little bit different texture, so now you can add your animal fat a little faster without so much caution.

  8. Blend the mixture a little longer after all the duck fat is used up and a mixture reaches the thick and creamy mayo consistency that you desire.
